About Us...Many years of being involved in different facets of the industry led to the formation of Quentronics in 1988 to cater for the production and broadcast industry in the service, maintenance and installation of electronic equipment. After starting with just a shell of a building and finishing with a fully functioning television studio for the 10 Network at Expo 88 in Brisbane, Quentronics was approached by a Melbourne based company to design and build the first pay television network in Australia. But our expertise didn't stop there as staff training and maintenance plans for equipment became a vital part of this project. Long term commitmentWith 45 years in the television production industry mainly concentrating on service, it was a natural progression to become more involved with design and installation and consequently in 1991 we were approached to install a new television station at the Sunshine Coast (100 kms north of Brisbane). This was at the time of aggregation for all networks, and saw the second largest installation of Library Management Systems in Australia at the time. The station was designed to be automated at a later stage with full digital interfacing on all machines for further upgrades. Setting the StandardsDuring this period Sony Australia approached Quentronics to be their "test case" for a service centre outside of the Sony Network. Working closely with Sony we set the guide lines for the standard that is in place today and we are still leading the high standard required for the fast effective servicing of the ever increasing equipment range and formats in the market today. Custom DesignBecause we are so well equipped and qualified in the broadcast industry we were asked to provide assistance to Thailand for the rectification of some problems encountered during a recent installation of a new production house from Australia. Being able to design electrical systems to video made the job somewhat easier to sort problems out in the field. Equipment assessed and repaired was Grass Valley switcher, Sony edit controllers, SGI work stations, Lightworks and Heavy works edit suites, Ursa Gold telecine, DI, D2 VTR's plus multi level routing systems (composite, serial, component, data). Overseas and Local SupportWith Asia such a close neighbour we regularly travel there and perform maintenance duties to assist the local engineers in all manner of service. This comes as a complement to us as it is widely known that we are qualified to service most brands of equipment and because of this the manufacturers extend their trust to us for the repair of their equipment. This in itself is a major achievement as no other company has been given this degree of trust by major suppliers. Digital ProficiencyLeading the field in installation of Digital equipment in Queensland enabled us to relocate some major production houses and design their upgrades into the digital era. Up-to-date WorkshopsBecause of our commitment to the industry to keep up to date with service and support in all areas we also provide service to radio microphones, DAT recorders and mini disc recorders. We have recently been appointed service agents for Australia by several state of the art companies. To enable us to guarantee the service we offer we have added to our extensive range of service equipment a fully automated RF service jig which will test power out, modulation, signal to noise ratio, frequency drift on transmitters and receivers, RF sensitivity, signal to noise, frequency, decoded audio levels and distortion. This unit also provides a hard copy or logs the data for our records to track performance. Fully AccreditedQuentronics is the ONLY fully accredited broadcast service centre for SONY and JVC in Queensland and we are 100% committed to keeping our personnel up to date with the latest technology by attending service courses interstate and overseas plus conferences to keep abreast of new technology for the further of the industry.
